MAGNA Guests Visited Zongshen
|
From October 22 to 23, Mr. Keith Lomason, the executive director of MAGNA (one of Top 500 Enterprises in the world) in Chinese office and Mr. Billy Quan, the manager responsible for business development, visited Zongshen Industrial Group in an assignment by the company’s HQ.
Magna is the biggest automobile spare parts manufacturer of the world. In 2007, it realized sales revenue of USD 26,067 million, with a net profit of USD 663 million. The company listed its stock on the American and Canadian stock markets. According to the latest ranking by Fortune Magazine, Magna is in the 307th place on Fortune 500 in 2008 (and 283rd on Fortune 500 in 2007).
Lomason and his team visited Zongshen Technological Research and Development Center, fuel cell development, two-wheeled vehicle manufacturing, electric motor car production bases, as well as Zongshen subsidiaries such as Zongshen Motorcycle Engine, Zongshen General Engine, Zongshen Welding and Zongshen Seat Cushion companies. In the afternoon on 23rd, they held a discussion with the Senior Management of Zongshen at Zongshen Group’s HQ.
Mr. Lomason said that Magna was the biggest spare part supplier with most healthy development in global automobile industry. In past 10 years (1997-2007), its compound growth rate in sales each year had reached 17%, owning 244 factories and 65 R&D centers all over the world with 83,000 employees. In China, it held 20 entities with 4,166 employees. According to Lomason, the visit to Zongshen Group showed him a strong and capable enterprise. He would report his inspection results to Magna’s HQ as soon as possible. Both parties discussed the feasibility of joint venture and cooperation in electric and fuel two-wheeled vehicles, and Lomason suggested both parties hold a further discuss on strengthening cooperation in fuel powertrain, automobile spare parts and power assemble, and expressed that Magna could license some proprietary technologies of automatic transmission and manual transmission to Chongqing Zongshen Automobile Engine Manufacturing Co., Ltd., to make the company a OEM of Magna.
