Brazil will become the fourth biggest motorcycle producer in the world

According to Brazil’s Manaus free-trade zone Management Committee, six new motorcycle producers will start operating, the bulk with Chinese capital or technology and with a combined annual production capacity of 230,000 motorcycles.

  Honda, which currently controls 80 pct of Brazil’s motorcycle market, will invest to raise its production to 2.0 million motorcycles per year, from the current 1.35 million units.

 SUNDOWN, which occupies the third largest market, is also operating to increase its annual production to 140,000 units from the present 94,000.

 In 2007, Brail is forecast to produce 1.65 million motorcycles, four times more than 0.4265 million in 1997. Additionally, 10,000 motorcycles are imported.

  With the development of economy, motorcycle is finding a ready market in Brazil and grows by an average 20 pct per year especially high in inner land and northern parts.

  Motorcycles are mainly for express and delivery. Now, a total of 6.27 million units are in use in Brazil.

  It is known that POP 100, which is Honda’s cheapest type, sells 3990 Reals i.e. 2,000 US dollars per unit. It can also be paid by installments with down payment 798 Reals, the rest 137.13 Reals once in 42 times.
